Fix your short-sightedness and live glasses-free
In the toggles below, we have provided everything you need to know about myopia and how we can treat it
Is your distant vision blurry?
If the answer is yes, this is because the light rays passing through your eye are focusing in front of your retina instead of on it.
Short-sightedness occurs when your eye is either too long, or the cornea bulges out too much.
Short-sightedness is easy to diagnose.
At the Donate Vision Clinic, you’ll go through a comprehensive assessment, which will allow your surgeon to choose the most appropriate surgical technique for you and to check the absence of contraindications.
The preoperative consultation will include :
- Measurement of your visual defect to be corrected by refraction analysis
- The verification of your director eye
- The complete ophthalmic assessment with measurement of the intraocular pressure, examination of the fundus and the analysis of the transparency of the lens
- The corneal topography (analysis of the corneal morphology)
- Aberrometric examination analysis of the optical quality of the eye
We can correct this visual disorder with surgery by modifying the path of the light rays, so they focus on the retina, instead of in front of it. You will then be able to see much more clearly into the distance, without the need for glasses or lenses.
Medical expertise is essential for the success of your myopia surgery
The surgical correction of myopia requires the mastery of delicate and precise techniques with the experience and skill of a specialised surgeon. Here at Donate Vision Clinic, we offer several methods, including laser eye surgery (LASIK, SMILE, PRK) and intraocular lenses.
Laser eye surgery corrects myopia in less than 15 minutes. Another suitable option for many patients, which is equally as effective as laser treatment, is intraocular lenses. We will determine the most effective technique for you once we have assessed your eyes at an initial consultation. We can then decide together how to achieve an optimal and lasting result with the guarantee of perfect safety conditions, and most importantly, the absence of complications or side-effects.
Our different surgical techniques
There are several surgical techniques used to treat myopia: notably PRK, LASIK, SMILE, and intraocular lenses. The best technique for you will depend on the topography and thickness of your cornea and the severity of your myopia.
Here, we will briefly describe the three main techniques of laser eye surgery:
PRK: First, we remove the most superficial layer from the centre of the cornea, then we apply the laser to the surface of the eye to correct the visual impairment.
LASIK: The Femtosecond laser first creates a thin corneal flap, then we use the excimer laser to treat the visual impairment.
SMILE: The laser cuts a disc-shaped piece of corneal tissue from inside the cornea to correct the visual impairment.

- Surgical treatment of the eyes using intraocular implant placement.
Implants (intraocular lenses)
For many patients, we can correct the visual impairment by implanting an intraocular lens into the eye. There are many different types of implants, each adapted to a particular function; however, we prefer to use the ICL STAAR intraocular lenses, which provide excellent accuracy in visual correction and guarantee maximum safety.
We carefully place the lens behind the iris through a small self-sealing incision in the edge of the cornea. This corrects both weak and severe myopia, with or without astigmatism, and it also treats hyperopia.
